You'll find me in a Berlin bar...

I've been enjoying Berlin bars for many years and I love the atmosphere of small, live music venues. I like to capture this by taking photos at these events. Most of the bars are dark, so a decent camera and lens are essential. I currently use a Nikon D750 as it works really well in low light and produces extremely good photos. Some of the earlier sets were with a Nikon D7000 and D7100, also very capable cameras. A wide aperture prime lens must also be used, as it gets the best of all available light and is much sharper than a zoom lens. I use a 35mm, 50mm and 105mm. This covers pretty much anything in a small venue. When I can't carry all this gear, I put my Fujifilm X100S into my pocket instead. The X100 range of cameras is quite something, a fixed 23mm lens (equivalent to 35mm in DSLR) and suberb low-light performance, the results can stand up to the D750.

I always shoot in the camera's RAW format as the files hold much more information than a standard JPG and settings can be tweaked and edited afterwards without affecting the original photo. I use Adobe Camera RAW (ACR) for logical, trouble-free adjustments.
